Junior High Students Connect with New Americans

Students from North Junior High sent welcome letters to refugees being served by at the International Institute of Minnesota. I had not heard of this organization before.

Organizational Mission: Helping New Americans achieve self-sufficiency and full membership in American life.

The Institute supports this mission by providing linguistically and culturally accessible services that enable every New American to work toward achieving full community participation and self-sufficiency.

The New Americans read the letters and shared them in class. Then, they replied. Check out some of the letters and responses published here at iimn.org.

How do you connect your students to others outside school walls?
