Fun Tech Toys of 2013-14

I stumbled across a list of 92 Must Have Tech Toys today. You can find them at the link here: http://www.foxnews.com/tech/slideshow/2014/01/08/92-must-have-tech-toys/?intcmp=features#slide=1

I’ve been living in the world of my childhood science fiction for many years. It’s one thing to imagine this tech existing. It’s more fun to see it come to life- and mostly within my reach. While they may not be the flashiest ones, these are the toys that caught my eye.

My favorites:

Slide 2: MakerBot Replicator Mini is bringing 3D printing within reach

Pair the Makerbot with the Makerbot Replicator, slide 60, and the possibilities are endless.

Or, I’ll just start with a 3Doodler from Slide 86. But then, I’ve never been a good drawer.

Slide 5: The Lego Mars Curiosity Rover (which may need to be my husband’s birthday present)

Slide 9: The pretty ClearView Clio Speaker- a nearly-invisible acrylic glass stereo transducer

Slide 15:  The One World Futbol that never pops- and a purchase provides a child a ball of their own

Slide 26: A Hot Wheels Car Maker- which I would say that I want to buy for my son, but really I want it for myself

Slide 30: Someday, someday I will own an iRobot. My stress goes down significantly when my floors are clean. (Hint, hint, dear husband.)

Slide 40: The Ricoh Theta camera would take some amazing photos. Maybe if I travel someplace worthy of a spherical photo

Slide 43: This is the next phase of sneaking device use in class- hide the controls in clothing

Slide 48: Because we all need an outdoor pizza oven…

Slide 67: The Cardock steel hydraulic lift allows you to store your cars underground. Perfect for those living in cities like London- or those who don’t like the look of massive garage doors.

Slide 76: Maybe when we upgrade from our CRT TV we will go this far… The LG Curved OLED TV. With that price tag, I’m guessing not. Or, maybe the Philips DesignLine TV from Slide 81 which is just one one sheet of glass.

Slide 79: With all the student germs that I encounter at work- and my children’s germs at home, I need a Airocide at my side all the time.

Slide 92: I need to remember the Lomography Smartphone Film Scanner as a gift for my father, who has been digitalizing film in other ways for years.
