I was about to put down my phone for the night when this video came across my social media feed. Three young ladies, from an organization called Get Lit appeared on Queen Latifha’s show. Belissa Escobedo, Rhiannon McGavin, and Zariya Allen performed a spoken word piece, “Somewhere in America.”
I had never heard of Get Lit. Check out their webpage. They provide teacher resources for bringing this into our classrooms.
