Thoughts from Saturday, September 1st. My time “unplugged.”
I discovered one thing pretty quickly when I went off the grid. My iPhone battery disappeared at an extraordinary rate. I know I should have put it down. That is the meaning of unplugging. But, I’ve become spoiled with a clock in my pocket at all time. More importantly, I love the digital camera- still and video. And, one of my favorite apps- Photosynth. Also, I fall asleep to an audiobook each night. It’s one way I have found to overcome my insomnia.
So, around the campground, I could almost have watched the battery life tick down. My phone was constantly searching for networks. It took me a bit to think of a solution. I opened the Settings app and turned on Airplane Mode. That way, my phone didn’t constantly try to connect to non-existing networks.
I unplugged. I just didn’t put away my devices.
