While we had great discussions today regarding Flipped Classrooms, one of the extras that caught the attention of the room was the discussion of email rules. I use rules quite extensively. I have building emails that are not urgent to my job go to one folder. I have notifications from web 2.0 sites go to another. It really does help me keep my email manageable. Setting up Rules can be pretty simple. I think it is one of the hidden wonders of most email programs. Here are some how-tos for different email systems.
- Outlook: office.microsoft.com, Manage email messages by using rules
- Gmail: support.google.com, Using Filters
- Novell: novell.com/documentation, Rules (page 255)
- Yahoo: help.yahoo.com, Using Filters to Sort Incoming Mail
- Lion OS Mail: dummies.com, How to Set Mail Rules in Mac OS X Lion
Are there other email systems out there worthy of including here?
Do you use rules? If so, what is your favorite set up?
