Day 154 of 366: Creating iPad Tutorials. What is your process?

The first time we rolled out a group of iPads, I had less than a week to put together resources for my teachers. I wanted to create screencasts of the process to set up an iPad from opening to box to setting up an Apple ID. At the time, I created these videos using a process I knew would work, even if it took a lot of steps.

I took screen captures of the iPad for every step along the way. I imported these images to my computer. I put them all into PowerPoint. From there, I cleaned up and cropped the images, and put in arrows and directions as appropriate.  I used PowerPoint to record my voice and timings, and then exported the steps as a video. Then, I put these videos on YouTube. Below is a very short video on how to set up an iTunes account without a credit card.

I’d like to put together a couple more iPads tutorials. I’ve been thinking of trying something like Reflection for the Mac. While I could capture the iPad movements this way, I would miss out on some of the elements of the first process like arrows and written words.

Have you created iPad tutorials? What was your process?
