How do you foster creativity? TED talk by Ramsey Musallum

Today at an International Baccalaureate training on Inquiry, our presenter shared this TED talk by Ramsey Masallum. I love his powerful message about how to spark creativity. I think it resonated with me because I can see the desire to learn with my young children, like his own daughters. But, I always wonder what happens to that drive as students get older. This is his story from the transcript about his daughter asking why. (Bonus that he has an Emmalue, and I have an Emelena.)

So these are my daughters. On the right we have little Emmalou — Southern family. And, on the left, Riley. Now Riley’s going to be a big girl in a couple weeks here. She’s going to be four years old, and anyone who knows a four-year-old knows that they love to ask, “Why?” Yeah. Why. I could teach this kid anything because she is curious about everything. We all were at that age. But the challenge is really for Riley’s future teachers, the ones she has yet to meet. How will they grow this curiosity?

Our group created a word cloud of the key themes that we took away from the video. This is our product, along with the key words of the transcript.
