Finding a balance with a technical world and job with the “real” analog world is sometimes a challenge. Personally, I watch TV digitally. I can’t remember the last time I watched traditional TV. In fact, I haven’t noticed when we cut off our cable subscription.
Some people run marathons. I respect their focus and ability to enjoy exercise. Honestly, if a workout is outside of a pool, it doesn’t seem all that enjoyable. Other people knit. Their work is amazing. And, none of that appeals to me.
I was tempted today to consider digital scrapbooking. I checked out some amazing layouts and the tools that go with them. I saw the ease of creation and the endless possibilities. Knowing how digital images work, I believe that I could create my own collection of embellishments. The pages that I would create could be printed – probably significantly cheaper than the paper layouts that I create.
But, after a full day of computer work, digital scrapbooking has no appeal. I like playing with paper. I enjoy creating creative, original layouts with my children’s photos. I create memory books that they may treasure in the future. I enjoy my non-digital escape.
If you’re a techie at heart, what’s your escape away from the technological world? Do you fish? Camp? Knit? Run?
How do you balance a digitally connected world with every day life?
