What was once science fiction, is now possible: Structure Sensor

At TIES this fall, I saw Science Fiction come to life with a little tool called the structure sensor. It scans 3D objects like sculptures, rooms, and people and creates digital files. Check out a video about the Sensor here: http://structure.io/#home-about-vid

I could see students create various theater set designs. Student sculptures and art projects could be reproduced in other mediums. Students could prototype items like mousetrap cars and print in 3D. Students could use cardboard or other materials to create a house or building in a town, for example, and then print the pieces.

How could this be used in the classroom?
