3D Printing Part 3: The Best Print Yet is a Wild Creation

The chain was my first step on one of the pre-designed options on the SD card. My first item imported into the MakerBot software was a Wild logo found on Thingverse. While the Wild played a playoff game, I played around with printing the Wild logo.

Part 3 - 1

I loved seeing the base of the design forming. From the time I hit print, you could see the outline of the Wild logo. But, the print failed three times. My seven year old, who had watched the build plate heat for the chain and the Maker Pendant pointed out to me that I had missed a very important setting in setting up the print. I had forgotten to turn on the heated base! I went back in to the Makerbot settings and tried this build for the third time.

Part 3 - 2

Excitement built as I watched the image come to life.

Part 3 - 3

Deeper and deeper, the lines of the Wild logo built itself up. Compared to the chain and the pendant, the Wild logo was a much more substantial product. The Wild logo shows me the amazing potential of the 3D printer to bring to life digital ideas into reality.
